Fight the power

Today five policemen were killed in Dallas (USA) during a so called Black Lives Matter protest. This protest was being held because of recent killings of black people by police fire. Wednesday Philando Castile was shot by a police officer. The man's girlfriend explained: "He was reaching for his wallet and the officer just shot him in his arm." The black man, brown but they call it black, died. Philando Castile was just driving in his car when police ordered to stop him because of a busted tail light. He stopped and well, was shot dead. Why not, he was black and reaching maybe for a gun... Not long ago a black man lying on the ground was shot dead by a police officer. After he shot this man the officer dropped his gun next to the victim. Later he declared that the victim took his gun and was planning to kill him. But someone filmed the incident and the truth came out. This man also had a broken tail light as I remember correctly. He ran away from the police though and that became fatal. Police officers back up each others stories even if they are plain lies. Racist police officers get away with murder in such a climate. This is going on for decades and it has to stop. But how?

Sometimes people from the black community fight back. Then they start to riot. They destroy shops of white people. Those shop owners that are totally not responsible for the violence against black people sometimes are broke afterward because they did not have a good insurance. Many people are not rich enough to effort such an insurance. During the riots after the beating of black guy Rodney King many white people where killed just for being white. So can I approve such riots: no of course I cannot.

During the Stonewall riots in 1969 gay people started to fight back. Nobody got killed but maybe that was just luck because the fights where severe. Gays, transvestites and so on started to fight the police. Things usually start to change when people start to fight back. Police (and the responcible politicians in power) do not like to get kicked so they have to deal with the power against them. Fight harder or give the others more rights. That are the options. Gays got more rights.

In the USA many people are locked away in prison. Many for decades or for life. The circumstances in those prisons are very inhumane. I call the situation in the USA fascism. But unlike Nazi Germany there still is a democracy in the USA. But you can also in a democratic way destroy human rights. And is it even a democracy? Are the mass media not owned by a few companies, a few persons. Are they doing a good job informing the public? When you watch the news you can see the police in action: a shooting here and then a shooting there. Sometimes breaking news: Justin Bieber throwing eggs. And don't forget the two party system meaning there is almost no democracy.

Who are responsible for the gross violations of human rights? Most politicians, most people in the 'justice' system, most people in the prison system, most police officers and most journalists from the mass media. And of course you, doing nothing against it.

Now some people did do something. They did not kill just white people walking on the streets, they did not riot shops owned by whites, no they killed police officers. People working for this 'justice' system. I cannot say I agree with their choice for this shooting. But I don't feel sorry for the killed cops. Is this wrong? Should I feel sorry for them? I feel sorry for the family of Philando Castile. Moments ago I tweeted the famous song by Public Enemy: Fight the power. As a white person I say: I am black too.
